Khushwant Pawar is a legal academic who studies how the law should answer artificial intelligence. He is Assistant Professor of Law at KLE Law College, Bengaluru, a constituent college of KLE Technological University, and is pursuing doctoral research in law. His work covers AI governance, algorithmic accountability, data protection, and banking and financial regulation, and has appeared in Scopus-indexed publications and with Springer Nature. He came to the classroom from practice, having appeared before the Bombay High Court and courts in Mumbai and served as Internal Legal Counsel at PNB Housing Finance Ltd., so he has seen regulation from inside a regulated institution as well as from the bar and the lectern. He holds a Master of Laws from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Finance and Law from NALSAR University of Law. As Ambassador for India, he carries the Trust Identity Protocol into conversations about transparency, accountability, fundamental rights, and public trust, with particular attention to India and the Global South.
