Eknath Mundhe

Eknath Mundhe is Head of Policy and Regulatory Affairs, India at The AI Lab Intelligence Unobscured, Inc., where he leads the engagement between the Trust Identity Protocol and the Government of India on the AI content provenance, verified-human identity, and content-labelling questions arriving in the next eighteen months.

Holding degrees in both Engineering and Law from reputed Indian institutions, and credentialed as a Project Management Professional, Eknath brings a rare combination of technical, contractual, and regulatory acumen to the work of standing up post-quantum verified-human identity and AI content provenance infrastructure in the world's largest internet population. His career has been spent executing complex public-interest infrastructure: large-scale projects across energy, industrial gases, infrastructure, and contracts, including current work on one of India's pioneering coal gasification-based Coal-to-Chemicals projects, contributing to the country's energy security, industrial growth, and clean-technology transition. The process discipline, contractual rigour, and multi-stakeholder coordination those projects demand are exactly what TIP requires as it lands across the Indian Founding Node Operators and aligns with India's emerging AI content disclosure framework.

At The AI Lab, Eknath leads the institutional engagement with Indian regulators on the AI content provenance and identity-verification questions inside the IT Act amendments, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, and the AI legislation under active consultation by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, NITI Aayog, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, and analogous bodies. His remit covers regulatory submissions, government affairs, public-policy partnerships with Indian academic and journalism institutions, and accreditation of Verification Providers under the AI Trust Council Charter across the Indian jurisdiction.

Beyond his professional expertise, Eknath possesses a deep understanding of India's political, regulatory, and socio-cultural landscape and maintains strong relationships across industry, government, legal, and media circles. He is passionate about emerging technologies, the institutional design of public-interest infrastructure, and translating strategic intent into operational outcomes that survive the multi-year horizons that AI trust infrastructure demands.
