Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Kumar is Vice President of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE), New Delhi, and an elected member of its Governing Council, where he has chaired the Membership Committee and serves as Zonal Mentor for the East Zone. He is Professor and Head of Computer Science and Engineering at RTCIT, Ranchi, and he arrives at the Council by way of three careers in one: thirteen years as an engineer in the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers of the Indian Army, twenty-seven years with the Government of India's Department of Telecommunications and BSNL, latterly as Assistant General Manager with charge of some 3,000 staff across the Jharkhand Telecom Circle, and nineteen years of teaching. A Fellow and Chartered Engineer of IETE and a Fellow of the Broadcasting Society of India, he holds a doctorate in Computer Science and Engineering, publishes in SCI-indexed journals on the Internet of Things, smart-city systems, and AI-enabled industrial infrastructure, and reviews for the IETE Journal of Research and for Springer Nature conferences. He brings the Council a combination it cannot manufacture: an engineer who has built national telecommunications infrastructure, an administrator who has governed it, and a scholar who teaches the standards that discipline it. He represents the institutional constituency on the Council, speaking from India, the jurisdiction whose scale will decide whether a global trust standard is genuinely global.

Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Kumar holds a seat on the AI Trust Council, the independent multi-stakeholder body that governs the Trust Identity Protocol.
