Biography

Nate Angell is the founder of Nudgital, an independent communications, community, and growth consultancy serving public-sector institutions and mission-driven organizations. He brings to the AI Trust Advisory Board a fifteen-year track record at the intersection of open knowledge, digital community, and content infrastructure. Most recently Director of Communications and Community at Creative Commons, the global nonprofit whose CC-BY 4.0 license is the canonical open-content license under which the Trust Identity Protocol specification is published. Previously Director of Marketing at Hypothesis, the web annotation platform building a universal conversation layer over digital knowledge. Earlier roles include Vice President of Growth and Community at Lumen Learning, where he advanced open educational resources to reduce the cost of higher education for students worldwide, and Chief Growth Officer at the social media intelligence startup Little Bird. Nate holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Columbia University and a Master of Arts and ABD doctoral study from Brown University in American Civilization, with a focus on critical media studies. He builds sustainability and growth at the intersection of communications, community, technology, and strategy across large public-sector organizations, commercial and mission-driven startups, and institutions and networks in education and scholarship. His advisory contribution to the Council centers on community-building, open-knowledge advocacy, and the adoption pathway by which the Trust Identity Protocol reaches creators, educators, journalists, and the institutional networks they serve.
