Alan D. Jagolinzer, PhD

Alan Jagolinzer is Professor of Financial Accounting and Vice Dean for Programmes at the University of Cambridge Judge Business School, where he also serves as Co-Director of the Cambridge Centre for Financial Reporting and Accountability. He chairs and coordinates the Cambridge Disinformation Summit, the international convening that examines the downstream harms caused by intentionally false and misleading information and the interplay between disinformation and systemic risk across environmental, economic, and electoral integrity. His research spans corporate governance, financial reporting and attestation, standard setting, compensation incentives, and insider trading, and appears in the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Accounting Research, the Journal of Accounting and Economics, The Accounting Review, Contemporary Accounting Research, Management Science, and the Georgetown Law Journal. He previously held faculty appointments at Stanford University Graduate School of Business and the University of Colorado Leeds School of Business, and served as Academic Fellow at the International Accounting Standards Board in London. He holds a PhD in Business Administration from Pennsylvania State University, an MBA from Syracuse University, and a BS with Distinction in Accounting from Pennsylvania State University. His work is regularly cited by the Financial Times, the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, Reuters, Forbes, ProPublica, and The New York Times. He brings to the Council the disciplines that governed trust long before the internet: disclosure, attestation, and independent verification, and the scholarship on how disinformation propagates once those disciplines fail.
