Sairamakrishna Karri, known as Sai, is the Director of Engineering at The AI Lab, where he owns engineering delivery for the Trust Identity Protocol: the node software, the federated DAG that carries the trust ledger, the AI Trust Registry, and the Verification Provider platform. He brings more than fourteen years of designing cloud-native and AI-driven systems for regulated, high-volume industries, which is precisely the operating environment a public trust protocol has to survive in.
Sai holds architecture responsibility for Ford Motor Company's global customs and international-trade platform on Google Cloud, engaged through Systems Technology Group in Dearborn, Michigan. Before that he architected Capital One's ACH and NACHA payments platform and its fraud-and-payments estate. Both are systems where a defect is a regulatory event rather than a cosmetic one, settlement is measured in money that has already moved, and every state transition has to be reconstructible years later under audit.
That experience maps directly onto TIP. A payments rail and a customs declaration system have the same shape as a provenance ledger: strict schemas, jurisdiction-specific rules, adversarial participants, an append-only audit trail, and no acceptable answer to "we lost the record." His work in distributed and event-driven design across Kafka, Google Pub/Sub and IBM MQ is the same discipline the DAG demands, and his depth in PCI DSS and PEP+/FED environments informs how the protocol handles verification data it deliberately never stores.
Sai is co-author of seventeen peer-reviewed papers published through IEEE, Springer Nature and Scopus-indexed venues, and co-author of the book Quantum Leap in AI. His research spans quantum machine learning, cybersecurity, distributed systems, microservices architecture and applied AI, which places him close to the post-quantum cryptography at the centre of TIP's design. He has completed eighty-nine verified peer reviews, seventy-five of them for IEEE Access, and won the Best Paper Award at ICIEET 2025 for work on AI in banking.
He is a Fellow of the British Computer Society, a Fellow of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers, a Distinguished Fellow of the Soft Computing Research Society, a Senior Member of the IEEE, and a member of the IET and the ACM. He is certified as a Project Management Professional and holds five AWS certifications, including Solutions Architect Professional and DevOps Engineer Professional. He serves on the Advisory Board of the Soft Computing Research Society and on the Advisory Committee of the 69th Annual IETE Convention, chairs the AI-Driven Business Development and Management session at IEEE ESCI 2026, and has delivered keynote addresses in the United Kingdom, India and Poland. He mentors actively, ranked in the top one percent of ADPList mentors, with more than fifty engineers mentored to date.
